Earlier this month, our People & Talent team represented OpenWorks Engineering at a Graduate Engineering Event in Newcastle upon Tyne. The networking event provided a great opportunity for us to engage directly with some of the North East’s most promising engineering graduates and to learn about their ambitions.
OpenWorks operates in a technically rigorous and mission-critical domain. Our work supports NATO and its allies worldwide and the systems we design and develop perform precisely in complex environments. We need teammates who bring discipline, reliability and commitment, and we champion the fresh academic perspectives that graduates bring to the workplace, with new methodologies and an appetite to challenge assumptions constructively.
Our region has a strong engineering heritage and a growing reputation for advanced manufacturing and technology. Building relationships within the regional talent network helps ensure that high-calibre engineers can build meaningful careers without leaving the North East of England. Networking events such as these help to bridge academia and industry, ensuring graduates understand how their capabilities translate into practical, high-impact engineering roles.
It was clear from the young engineers’ drive and passion that they want their work to matter and to make a real impact in our industry. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for the graduates we met.
