OpenWorks Deliver Counter Drone Technology Presentation in the Government Briefing Zone

James Cross, Marketing Director, presents OpenWork's view on the counter drone solution to delegates in the government briefing zone at Security and Policing 2016.

Drawing on over a decade of experience developing Counter-Improvised-Explosive-Device (C-IED) equipment for the military; James compared the C-IED strategy, that government organisations across the world employed, to efforts currently being made to counter the drone threat in the civilian context.

OpenWorks Deliver Control System Product Upgrades to Abtus Ltd

Route Scan Upgrade

OpenWorks was awarded an upgrade contract by Abtus Ltd in December 2015.  The upgrade involved a redesign of the electronics and control system of Abtus’ RouteScan product.  RouteScan is a laser based structure scanning system which is part of Network Rail’s standard maintenance tool kit and is also in use on European and Japanese rail networks.

The upgrade had to be completed in a very challenging timescale while ensuring absolute software integrity.  The end of contract handover was carried out on 8th February 2016, in time for Abtus to include the upgrade in a large export order to the Czech Republic.  Sam Parrett, Abtus’ Managing Director, said ‘It was extremely important for Abtus that the work was completed to specification and in time.  The working relationship with OpenWorks was extremely open which allowed Abtus to easily plan production around the upgrade’.

SkyWall100 is a man-portable, cost effective system that captures a drone in a net and then brings it to the ground under a parachute. It is a brand new product that OpenWorks have been developing since 2015.
