Last weekend (Sunday 28th June), we were proud to support the Prudhoe Armed Forces Day event, helping to honour the service and dedication of the men and women of the British Armed Forces, both past and present.
The family-friendly event brought together residents, serving personnel, veterans, cadets and local businesses for a day of recognition, celebration and community spirit.
Across OpenWorks, we are proud to have a number of colleagues who have served in the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force. The skills, experience and values they developed during their service continue to make a significant contribution to our business, helping to shape our culture and drive us forward every day.
“As a veteran, events like Armed Forces Day are always a chance to reflect on the values and sense of purpose that shaped my 22 years of service. Joining OpenWorks felt like a natural next step for me, as its mission to support NATO and its core values closely align with the ethos I lived by in the Armed Forces. It’s great to be part of an organisation, and local community, that continues to recognise and support those who serve”.
Jon – Customer Support Manager at OpenWorks
“OpenWorks’ vision is to help protect the territory and airspace of NATO countries and their allies. This closely aligns us with the aims of our country’s Armed Forces. It is therefore fantastic that this week we get to celebrate the contribution of the Armed Forces community. As a Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award holder, OpenWorks fully supports its employees who are linked to the Armed Forces, be they veterans, volunteer reservists or cadet force adult volunteers. The brave service that our veterans have given and the time and enthusiasm offered by the volunteers is worthy of merit. As OpenWorks would put it, they are good eggs!”
Michael – Technical Author at OpenWorks and Volunteer Officer Commanding 234 (City of Durham) Squadron RAF Air Cadets
We would like to thank the organisers, volunteers and everyone who attended for making the event such a success.
