Down
Managing Director
Chris Down brings over 20 years industry experience from the defense, rail, and offshore sectors to OpenWorks.
A graduate from Trinity College Cambridge, Chris drives product development for the company applying his wide-ranging mechanical, electrical and software engineering expertise.
Chris also pushes the senior leadership team to focus on high standards, and business growth.
James
Cross
Sales, Marketing and Business Development Director
James Cross has spent his entire career in the Defence sector, with a focus on product and system development.
A graduate in Mechanical Engineering, from The University of Newcastle, James uses his engineering background to help innovate and collaborate in business development, sales, and marketing for OpenWorks.
James is focused on accelerating OpenWorks’ global opportunities and maintaining relationships with existing customers.
Neil
Armstrong
Engineering Director
With over 25 years of mechanical system design experience since graduating from the Engineering School of Newcastle University, Neil has designed complex armoured vehicle systems in the Defence industry and has managed prototype, low and high-rate production projects.
Neil uses this wealth of knowledge and experience to support the OpenWorks’ engineering team to complete projects on time and in budget, and with the highest quality control.
Alex
Wilkinson
Technical Director
Alex focuses on AI and software development for OpenWorks’ wide range of capability areas.
Attaining a degree in Aeronautical engineering from The University of Bristol, Alex also holds over 15 years’ experience in engineering in the Oil and Gas and Defence sectors, ensuring OpenWorks products are maintained to the the highest technical and quality standards.
Roland Wilkinson
Finance Director
Having forged a career in finance within the engineering sector, after gaining a degree in Economics from Edinburgh Napier University, Roland takes the lead at OpenWorks on all financial and commercial aspects of the business.
He ensures the engineering and sales teams have the freedom to support customer projects, while continuing to develop class leading technology.

After 30 successful years as founder and CEO of the Chess Technologies Group.
Graham joined OpenWorks Engineering to provide his extensive experience in strategic business development, innovation, and implementation.
