OpenWorks was awarded an upgrade contract by Abtus Ltd in December 2015. The upgrade involved a redesign of the electronics and control system of Abtus’ RouteScan product.
RouteScan is a laser based structure scanning system which is part of Network Rail’s standard maintenance tool kit and is also in use on European and Japanese rail networks.
The upgrade had to be completed in a very challenging timescale while ensuring absolute software integrity. The end of contract handover was carried out on 8th February 2016, in time for Abtus to include the upgrade in a large export order to the Czech Republic. Sam Parrett, Abtus’ Managing Director, said ‘It was extremely important for Abtus that the work was completed to specification and in time. The working relationship with OpenWorks was extremely open which allowed Abtus to easily plan production around the upgrade’.
