OpenWorks Develops Autonomous Surveillance for Border Security

In an era where border security is being challenged in ways not seen before scalability, affordability and flexibility is critical.

The need for quickly deployable autonomous multi-sensor systems is greater than ever. OpenWorks has been developing Vision Guard for the last year, and will soon be deploying active and passive configurations with end users.

Engineered for the most challenging environments, Vision Guard is a portable covert autonomous forward observation and surveillance system designed to safeguard borders against ground and aerial threats.

The system is comprised of a panoramic optical sensor, a processor unit that provides power, network and data fusion for multiple sensors, and a range of active and/or passive sensors to suit the mission. It is ideally suited for the dismounted operations and provides automated alerts with AI detection and classification. Detections and alerts are streamed out to a handheld tablet or to other command systems via the standard interface, COT, ATAK, SAPIENT etc.

Vision Guard systems provide a gap filling capability and work well when deployed alongside long-range surveillance platforms and towers. The system can be operational in only a few minutes and be strategically placed to provide surveillance on areas that larger systems cannot.

OpenWorks will also be providing demonstrations later in 2024, and plans to deploy the system at major European and North American Test Exercises to get maximum exposure to the end-user community to drive further development and to maximise the systems benefits.

Defend Your Borders with Confidence

Vision Guard is based on proven technology that is currently operationally deployed in the other OpenWorks products and systems.

Easy and Fast to Deploy

Vision Guard’s lightweight, backpackable design, coupled with rapid deployment capabilities, makes it the ideal choice for mobile operations, in rugged terrains to urban environments.

Whether mounted on a vehicle or deployed in remote locations, Vision Guard’s adaptability ensures seamless integration into any operational scenario.

Advanced Surveillance

Potential target detections from the optical sensors are fused with tracks provided by the 3rd party sensors, including radar, acoustics and RF. Its multi-sensor system, capable of both active and passive operations, provides comprehensive coverage, allowing operators to maintain secure the most challenging of border territories.

Precision and Automation

With fast and automated target classification, Vision Guard minimises operator cognitive load, focusing attention only when a real threat is identified. Its intuitive interface and seamless integration with C2 systems enable operators to act swiftly and decisively, ensuring border security remains uncompromised.
