OpenWorks Supports Largest UK Armed Forces Transition Event at Silverstone

OpenWorks were honoured to be supporting one of the UK’s most innovative and dynamic Veteran events, Mission Motorsport.

Director and Founder of OpenWorks, James Cross, signed the Armed Forces Covenant at the event, which ensures those who serve are treated fairly in terms of access to government and commercial services. Mission Motorsport brings together service leavers, veterans & family members with employers and MoD to aid successful, sustainable transition & networking opportunities for the Armed Forces community.

Set against the backdrop of the iconic racetrack at Silverstone, the National Transition Event is a unique event which offers service leavers, veterans, and their partners the opportunity to find out about careers away from the military. The event is supported by both the MoD and the Office for Veterans’ Affairs.

With around fifteen thousand leaving the armed forces each year, events such as this are critical in connecting businesses from innovative sectors such as automotive, renewable, manufacturing, to over 1200 attendees who had registered. The event not only gives charities and businesses a voice, but also attracts the support of career game changing tools such as CV & interview advice, provided by experts from Severn Trent, and free Premium Licenses from LinkedIn, who also ran a series of workshops and brought along a photographer to help attendees develop their online profile.

OpenWorks Director James Cross said:

“It was a pleasure meeting so many incredible veterans at Silverstone, who are working hard to help build the Mission Community. OpenWorks was astounded by turnout to the event and look forward to upholding their pledge to Armed Forces Covenant, as well as continuing collaboration with Mission Motorsport and their incredible outreach work”.
